Who can attend this workshop?​
  • Anyone who is curious about AI and wants to work hands-on with AI. Some understanding of the basics will help. This workshop is targeted towards beginner and intermediate builders of AI applications.
What all will be covered in the workshop?
  • 1. Working with OpenAI models in the cloud (a) What are LLMs and how do they work (b) Generate Text with OpenAI GPT models (c) Generate images with DallE (d) Generate Code (e) Function calling (f) Working with Assistants API
  • 2. Working with Local models with AI toolkit for VSCode: (a) What are SLMs? What are the use-cases for SLMs? (b) Introduction to the Phi family of SLMs (c) Hands-on with VSCode and models
Prerequisites to attend the workshop
  • You need to have laptops with VSCode and a web browser installed. You will need some internet access to download and interact with OpenAI models. Ideally have an Azure account but that is not a necessity.
  • Laptop: Attendees should bring their own laptops.

You will learn how LLMs and SLMs work. You will learn about prompting techniques. You will learn how to use the Multi-modal capabilities of LMs to generate text, images and code. You will also learn about the RAG pattern to build AI applications to extend the capabilities of AI models.
